Indonesia’s Mount Slamet, which covers five districts in Central Java Indonesia and Java's second highest and one of its most active volcanoes, is now on alert status. The alert status has stood at level 3 since August—a level 4 alert, the highest, would prompt the evacuation. Indonesian authorities have put the Mount Slamet volcano on the second-highest alert level after it erupted 38 times on September 11, spewing lava some 1500 metres (5,000 feet) into the air. Authorities banned activity within four kilometers of the peak and 24,000 residents from seven villages with roughly four miles of the crater needs to be evacuated if this volcano erupted again.
HOT is working together with BPBD Kabupaten Purbalingga to map the area to reduce the disaster risk and data preparedness
