Inhabitants of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, are facing some important water access problem, especially in area of recent settlements surrounding the capital. It leads to recurrent water related diseases like typhoid and cholera. MSF is currently working with local authorities in order to improve the water access in the most critical area. In the meantime, health authorities recently recorded cases of Typhoid, and even if cases numbers are still low, they are increasing. In order to help us taking the best decision possible, having the most accurate overview of everything related to water ways, roads and buildings in these areas would be an invaluable asset.
The Missing Maps project aims to map the most vulnerable places in the world (affected by humanitarian crises: disease epidemics, conflict, natural disasters, poverty, environmental crises). Building on HOT's disaster preparedness projects, the Missing Maps tasks facilitate pre-emptive mapping of priority countries to better facilitate disaster response, medical activities and resource allocation when crises occur.

This area is divided into 3 different projects (1668, 1669, 1670), respectively on buildings, roads, and landuse/water points. The aim is to facilitate the work of new mappers as well as improve the quality of tracing.
For this first step of tracing, please map only the buildings. Do not map roads or landuses, else it will create massive conflict errors with the other steps when saving your job.
Please note that many areas are already well mapped and that the Bing imagery is not very up-to-date, so don't delete existing data in case of doubt. And don't hesitate to mark tasks as done if they are complete, even if you didn't have to map anything on it!
New mapbox imagery is available now on certain area of this project. If on your mapping area Mapbox imagery is available, please align this imagery to bing one first and then start mapping! Don't hesitate to help yourself by comparing Mapbox imagery to Bing one, it can make the interpretation work much easier; but don't forget that Mapbox imagery is the reference.
For mapping buildings, please use the tag building = yes
Please square up your buildings once it's done with the "S" key in ID (or Q in JOSM).
Please remember, you are mapping the footprint of the building, so please try and align the building shape with the base of the building and not the top.* Correct building mapping example: Buildings mapped at the top vs buildings mapped at the base
