Médecins Sans Frontières is running a local project to improve HIV medication in remote rural areas in Mozambique. MSF's teams will need an accurate map of the road network and settlements to reach their patients, and particularly the Community Antiretroviral therapy Groups (GAC). These groups gather patients that are travelling - sometimes for long - to receive their medication. It is therefore crucial to identifiy precisely where they are, and what is the easiest way to get to them.
There is no freely available mapping data available for the province, aside from that which has been already generously contributed by the OSM community until now. MSF counts on you to facilitate their deployment in the district! The data will also benefit other programmes in this vulnerable area.
The Missing Maps project aims to map the most vulnerable places in the world (affected by humanitarian crises: disease epidemics, conflict, natural disasters, poverty, environmental crises). Building on HOT's disaster preparedness projects, the Missing Maps tasks facilitate pre-emptive mapping of priority countries to better facilitate disaster response, medical activities and resource allocation when crises occur.

- #hotosm-project-1390, #MissingMaps, #Bing, #Mozambique When saving your work, please leave the default comment but add what you actually mapped, for example "added buildings and a residential road".
This project provide a first stage in mapping the area, focusing on residential areas, rivers and only the main roads.
Residential areas are composed of more than two houses and are tagged with landuse=residential
Please not that mapping the buildings is not a priority on this project.
Only roads linking areas of habitation should be mapped, using highway=unclassified, and road within villages using highway=residential. A road connecting two dwellings should be tagged as highway=unclassified (and not track), even if it is not fit for motorized vehicules, cf. this page: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Highway_Tag_Africa
Feel free to divide the tasks since the area is quite large.
