Overview

The Philippine Red Cross, with partners including the American Red Cross, continues Typhoon Haiyan recovery operations in Leyte. They will use the more accurate and complete data of these areas in the management and monitoring of their programs. The Philippines is regularly subject to natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes, and the data will also support preparedness initiatives and future disaster responses.

The U.S. Embassy in Manila, in partnership with Map the Philippines and OpenStreetMap Philippines have led efforts to help complete this task.

Mapping

Please work North to South and:

  • Add all missing roads, all buildings building=yes, and waterways.
  • Better align existing roads, buildings, and waterways as needed.
  • Update landuse polygons.

Please follow the mapping conventions described on the Philippines OSM wiki.
