#1075 Bamako (Mali)

The objective of this task is to improve the base map of Bamako, the capital city of Mali.

This base map will serve a lot of people for a lot of different purposes: local people and foreigners will be able to orient them better in the city, (inter)national NGOs can adapt their aid programs better, governmental institutions will be able to improve infrastructures, businesses will be able to point their agencies on the map, etc.

The priority area colored in pink is where the members of the OSM Mali community is collecting data in the field. Digitizing it helps them for their field mapping.

A massive landslide has blocked Kali Gandaki River at Baisari in Bhagwati VDC of Myagdi district early Sunday morning. Nepal Police, through their twitter account, informed that the water level in the artificial dam created after the blockage of the river has risen by 150 meters.

About the Tasking Manager

OSM Tasking Manager is a mapping tool designed and built for the Humanitarian OSM Team collaborative mapping. The purpose of the tool is to divide up a mapping job into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need the mapping validated.

This approach facilitates the distribution of tasks to the various mappers in a context of emergency. It also permits control of the progress and the homogeneity of the work done (e.g. elements to cover, specific tags to use, etc.).

Just jump over to OpenStreetMap, create an account, and then visit the LearnOSM tutorials on the Tasking Manager and the iD editor. Alternatively check out the MapGive website which also provides information on the Tasking Manager and mapping.
