Khartoum, the Capital city of Sudan, has been experiencing again extremely heavy rains since Early August, that have turned into floods, houses falling, areas drowning, victims and the forecast says this will continue the coming days.

All towns in this are have been digitized, but we want to make sure that we have captured all of the buildings in this area, so this task is designed to scan the area looking for buildings. It would also be very beneficial if we can capture all major roads as well!

About the Tasking Manager

OSM Tasking Manager is a mapping tool designed and built for the Humanitarian OSM Team collaborative mapping. The purpose of the tool is to divide up a mapping job into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need the mapping validated.

This approach facilitates the distribution of tasks to the various mappers in a context of emergency. It also permits control of the progress and the homogeneity of the work done (e.g. elements to cover, specific tags to use, etc.).


New to Mapping?

Just jump over to OpenStreetMap, create an account, and then visit the LearnOSM tutorials on the Tasking Manager and the iD editor. Alternatively check out the MapGive website which also provides information on the Tasking Manager and mapping. Once you have read up on how to map, come back here to help map for people on the ground!
