Crocker Range National Park was established in 1984. It covers the north-south Crocker Range, of 1200-1800 metre mountains in Sabah, Malaysia. The boundaries of the park have been surveyed, but no facilities exist at present for visitors.

The park covers 1,399 km², making it the largest park in Sabah. The park consists of both hill and montane forest, with many species of flora and fauna endemic to Borneo. Maintenance of this forest cover is essential to ensuring a pure water supply for many of the towns and communities in Sabah.

#2680 Missing Maps: Kenema, Sierra Leone (part 2 - buildings) - #belgiumunis mapathon

  • Author: Missing Maps
  • Requesting Organization: MSF

Sierra Leone has among the highest child mortality rate and the highest maternal mortality ratio in the world. An already dysfunctional national health system was further weakened by the Ebola outbreak through loss of life amongst health staff. Within this, Kenema District has the highest child mortality rate.

MSF is soon to open a project to reduce under 5 and maternal morbidity / mortality through supporting medical activities covered in the national policy for the free health care initiative, targeting the isolated chiefdoms of Gorama Mende / Wandor in Kenema District. The goal is to offer access to maternal and child health services in a remote, rural locality to work on how to increase the pickup of services in the communities. A detailed chiefdom mapping will highly help our achievement of this objective.

About the Tasking Manager

OSM Tasking Manager is a mapping tool designed and built for the Humanitarian OSM Team collaborative mapping. The purpose of the tool is to divide up a mapping job into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need the mapping validated.

This approach facilitates the distribution of tasks to the various mappers in a context of emergency. It also permits control of the progress and the homogeneity of the work done (e.g. elements to cover, specific tags to use, etc.).

New to Mapping?

Just jump over to OpenStreetMap, create an account, and then visit the LearnOSM tutorials on the Tasking Manager and the iD editor. Alternatively check out the MapGive website which also provides information on the Tasking Manager and mapping. Once you have read up on how to map, come back here to help map for people on the ground!
